Joanne's Newest ABC Radio Interview in 2023 - A Moment of Tea

Joanne's Newest ABC Radio Interview in 2023

Shares My Tea Journey on Tasmania Afternoons, ABC Radio

Hey there, tea friends! I recently had a nice chat with Joel Rheinberger on ABC radio, Northern Tasmania. We chatted about my personal journey with tea, which started about nine years ago amidst the busy city life of Beijing.

I stumbled upon the peace and solitude in making and drinking tea. This personal ritual soon turned into a communal affair as I began inviting friends and family to share in these quiet moments. I discovered that the process of making tea reflects your emotional state - it's almost like tea is this sensitive creature that soaks up how you're feeling.

In our conversation, I shared about the six main types of Chinese tea we offer at 'A Moment of Tea': green, white, yellow, oolong, black, and post-fermented. They're all unique in flavor, health benefits, and the way they are brewed - all depending on how much they are fermented.

Six kinds of tea: green tea, white tea, black tea, oolong tea

We also discussed the different cultural practices when it comes to tea. The British, for example, add milk to counterbalance the bitterness of powdered tea, while in China we prefer to use loose leaves, which naturally create a balanced taste without the need for milk.

Towards the end of our chat, I suggested that for anyone looking to explore the tea world or considering a switch from coffee to tea, oolong tea could be a great starting point. With its full body and distinctive aroma, oolong is a fantastic introduction to the diverse universe of specialty teas.

So, if this brief summary piqued your interest, why not take a listen to the full interview? (I attach the audio link below.) Who knows, you might find something new about the world of tea. Enjoy your next tea moment!

Love tea. All kinds. My friend brought back to Darwin your tea flowers and I loved them. My boy loves them as well but likes it with stevia leaves. I’m going to try all of your teas. I also call herbal infusions tea. My friend and ĺ share the love of good quality tea. Thank you
